As I was shopping today with LB after class (retail therapy, baby) I encountered a little wardrobe malfunction. No, nothing bad happened. I just couldn't get out of my skirt. There's something wrong with the zipper, so I just couldn't yank it open. Now I happened to discover this when we were shopping in small shop that had these unusually unfriendly sales assistants.
So anyway, I pull open the curtains of the changing cubicle and wave LB in to help me with the skirt, and the sales assistant sees me in MY OWN SKIRT and goes "We don't sell that skirt!", to which I reply "Yes, I know, it's mine!" and pull the curtains closed.
So while we're wrestling with the naughty zipper, I hear the sales assistant talking in a huffy manner to the other, saying how I shouldn't be allowed to try on other store's clothes in their changing room. Obviously she hadn't been observant enough to realize that I hadn't changed a single thing and had walked into the store wearing the exact same skirt...
Curtains open, and I'm still wearing the same skirt. The sales assistants start protesting about me trying on other store's clothing in their cubicles, and I try very patiently to explain that I'd dearly love to try on their merchandise if I could get my own stupid skirt off. They look at me blankly, then the nasty one tries to help me.
Nothing helped in the end, but I managed to wriggle out of the skirt without undoing the zipper in the end. I didn't buy their skirt. And when I tried to hand it back to the sales assistant, she just waved and said "Yeah, leave it there", and didn't even look me in the eye.
No wonder people say the service sector of Singapore is crap! Rude, impatient, and rude rude rude.
Of course, this is another perfect example of how a memory only retains the negative, because I managed to buy 3 tops and 1 skirt and interact with plenty of other perfectly polite and nice sales assistants. But yes, those phenomenally unpleasant girls at that store are the only ones that I really remember.
Had cell group in church today. It was fun, as usual (great meeting up with friends) but the dynamics were kinda weird towards the end... everyone was really quiet and sad...
