Sing-a-ling-a-ling...

I like singing, generally. I like singing with a purpose. I hate singing when it's just senseless people singing trying to impress each other (like in a car, or when hanging out and people just burst randomly into song and try to sound all "good"... aaaargh.) When I burst into random song, I usually make it sound as ridiculous as possible. It's fun. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Anyway, I had to sing one of the two solo bits for He Lives (the Lakewood song) at the Easter-ish service (on Saturday) and it was pretty good for the most part, except for the fact that I had been given the MAN'S part (the musical director failed to realize that it was a tenor voice, not a throaty woman...) so I was singing this insanely low part and I thought it sounded awful. But anyway, we rehearsed it and it sounded fairly decent, so we left it at that... only to have our main pianist vanish at the time of performance. So it was played without the main piano part, and was basically a little scary. The vocals sounded pretty good, though... All in all I comfort myself with the fact that 85% of the general population doesn't really know the first thing about how it was supposed to sound or are unable to tell the difference anyway, so it's all good. It's only musicians that rile each other up, really. Generally I'm happy. It was pretty funny, though.

On another completely unrelated note, I finally watched Serenity and have decided that I really should go and buy the Firefly DVDs, and have resolved to start to use "shiny" as an interjection in my regular conversation. We'll see how that works out.
